The Hayden wrestling team picked up four dual wins in two days, defeating Moffat County's junior varsity squad Thursday before heading to Cedaredge and taking three of four duals at the all-day tournament Saturday.

Hayden defeated Rangely, 33-30, on Saturday before rolling over Cedaredge and Soroco, 40-12 and 42-12, respectively, behind falls and a heavy number of forfeits.

The Tigers are now 4-1 in dual action.

Gunnison defeated Hayden for the team title in Cedaredge.

"Cedaredge isn't the toughest tournament, but it's a good one for our kids," Tigers assistant coach Leif Jacobsen said.

In the Cedaredge Tournament, seven of the nine Tigers who competed placed in the top four. That number doesn't include junior Jake Doolin, who was on his way to a sure placement before dropping out because he was sick.

Hayden's top performance during the two days was the 33-30 dual win against Rangely. In the Dec. 6 Steamboat Invitational, Rangely beat Hayden in the team race, but the Tigers responded at Cedaredge, winning five matches behind junior Seth Copeland (145 pounds) and senior Jason Rolando's pins. Rolando wrestles at 215 pounds.

Doolin defeated Rangely's Jason Brenton, 1-0, on a third-period escape, which gave Hayden the three-point margin of victory.

Doolin recorded a major decision against his Cedaredge opponent but dropped out of the competition before he faced Soroco's Matt Iacovetto at 140 pounds.

Copeland, Rolando and junior Randy Muhme (heavyweight) each finished first overall in Cedaredge.

Dustin Jones (125) took second overall after Gunnison's Conner Finney pinned him in the finals.

Isaac Haskins pinned Gunnison's Tyler Hanson in 58 seconds to finish third. Tyler Manzanares and Sean Rolando each took fourth.

On Thursday, Hayden hosted Moffat County's JV team and won 36-18.

Copeland and Doolin picked up wins; the other Tigers either lost or won by fall.

Hayden returns to action when it hosts Rangely and Soroco in a triangular at 6 p.m. Friday at Hayden High School.
