Katherine McLaren Bennett died Aug. 18, 2003, at the Doak Walker Care Center. She was 95.
Katherine was born Feb. 20, 1908, in Cathcart, Glasgow, Scotland, the third of five children and the only daughter of Arthur and Cather-ine Watson.
Katherine joined the British Foreign Service in 1922 and continued that service until 1948. She came to the United States as part of the first British delegation to the United Nations in 1946. She became a U.S. citizen in 1960.
She married George E. Bennett, Jr. in November 1948.
Katherine was an expert seamstress and knitter as well as a talented pianist and singer. She was known for her quick wit and strong personality. She moved to Craig from Truth or Conse-quences, N.M., in 1998. She was a devout Jehovah's Witness and had many friends in that organization throughout the country.
Katherine was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and four brothers, Arthur, John, Gordon and James.
She is survived by a daughter, Shannan Koucherik and husband Ed of Craig; two sons, Robert Bennett and wife Alice and George Bennett III and wife Monika, all of South Salem, N.Y.; four grandchildren; and multiple great-grandchildren; as well as nieces and nephews in the United States and Great Britain.
At the family's request, there will be no services. The cremains will be returned to Scotland.
