Steamboat Springs With the deadline for Hayden School Board candidate petitions two days away, three have been turned in.
"This will probably be it," district secretary Darlene Babcock said.
Incumbent Troy Wertenberger is uncontested in Director District D. In Director District B, incumbent Jody Camilletti will run against former School Board member George Wixson. Wixson was unavailable for comment.
Camilletti said she wanted to keep the current School Board together because it is a "very cohesive group." She said there are some issues and projects the board is working on, and she wants to be a part of the final decisions.
Wertenberger has similar reasons for running for another term. He said the current board is diverse and brings different ideas and concerns to the table that complement each other. He said he wants to remain part of the decision-making process for at least another term to finish what he started.
People interested in running for the Hayden School Board can pick up nomination petitions at the district office. They must be turned in by the end of the day Friday.
Candidates must live within the director district for which they want to run and must meet eligibility requirements.
