School district combines bus routes to save time

The most significant change to the 2003-04 school year bus routes is to the Elkhead Route, Transportation Director Daren Zehner reported to the Board of Education on Aug. 20. It is now a combination of the old Elkhead Route and the U.S. Highway 40 West Route. The routes encompass the following:
Milner Route
The bus will proceed east on U.S. 40 to Milner. The bus will turn around in Milner and head west on U.S. 40 to Hayden. The bus will make stops along this route and within Hayden, before going to the schools.
Elkhead Route
The bus will proceed north on Routt County Road 80 to R.C.R. 76 to R.C.R. 78. It will cross over the Elkhead Reservoir dam to Moffat County Road 28 and M.C.R. 29. It will proceed south on M.C.R. 29 to U.S.40. It will proceed west on U.S. 40 to the town of Hayden. The bus will make stops along this route and within Hayden before going to the schools.
Hayden Divide Route
The bus will proceed south on R.C.R. 53 to the Walking G Ranch turnaround, which is east on R.C.R. 29, and then return to R.C.R. 53 and follow this route to R.C.R. 65 (Breeze Basin Road) going west to the Frentress Ranch where it will turn around and proceed back to town. The bus will make stops along this route and within Hayden before going to the schools.
N. Cog/Morgan Bottom Route:
The bus will proceed from the school north on R.C.R. 80 to R.C.R. 76 to R.C.R. 74A and to the 74A turnaround. It will return via R.C.R. 74A to R.C.R. 76 to R.C.R. 76A. The bus will proceed to R.C.R. 80 to the DeLaney's turnaround. It will return to Hayden via R.C.R. 80. The bus will make stops along this route and within town before going to the schools.
Sage Creek Route
The bus will go east on Jefferson Avenue to R.C.R. 37, south on R.C.R. 37 to the intersection of R.C.R. 37 and R.C.R. 27. It will proceed north on R.C.R. 27 to U.S. 40 and west to R.C.R. 69. It will proceed via R.C.R. 60 to U.S. 40, then to Hayden. The bus will make stops along this route and within Hayden before going to the schools.
