Steamboat Springs Time is running out for local golfers who want to play in this year's Steamboat Combined Club Championships, which will take place at the Catamount, Sheraton and Haymaker golf courses the first week of September.
"We are about 80 percent full on the men's side and 40 percent on the women's," Haymaker pro Hank Franks said.
The tournament will fill when it reaches 90 men and 40 women.
The deadline to enter the tournament is 5 p.m. Monday. The event is scheduled to open Sept. 5 with play at the Catamount Golf Club. On Sept. 6, it will move to the Sheraton Steamboat Golf Club and will end Sept. 7 at Haymaker.
The men's field will be divided into six flights and the women's field into two flights. Prizes will be awarded to the top three players in each flight in gross and next score. Franks said 70 percent of the entry fee will come back to golfers in the form of prizes, and that 40 percent of golfers who enter the tournament will win something. Last year, Steve Dodson and Paula Stephenson won titles in the championship flight.
Tournament entry costs $150 and includes play at all three courses, practice range and prizes. Franks said the intent of the tournament is give members from all of Steamboat's four courses a chance to compete against players from other clubs in an end-of-season tournament.
Golfers can get information about the tournament at any of the three participating courses.
