Last weekend's Continental Divide Trail Run, a punishing 16-mile event, saw 65 participants enter, organizer David Dietrich said.

"Counting the (Steamboat) Marathon, this ranks up there as one of the toughest races," he said. "It has such an elevation gain, making it a tough race for everyone."

The 16-mile trail run began at Fish Creek Falls and climbed to the Continental Divide before finishing at the top of the Gondola.

Bill Goldsmith took first on the men's side and overall, completing the race in 2 hours, 5 minutes and 41 seconds. Clark Fox was second in 2:10:50, while Paul Sachs came in third in 2:11:10.

Lisa Goldsmith was the top finisher on the women's side and placed seventh overall with a time of 2:23:49. Kristi Rosso was second in 2:28:15. Donna Miller was third in 2:44:12.
