Girls lacrosse team splits pair of games Saturday


— The Steamboat Springs girls lacrosse team split a pair of home games Saturday at the Colorado Mountain College field.

The Sailors defeated Rangeview 11-5 in the first game before falling to Grandview 11-2 in the second.

"We played really well in the first game," Steamboat coach Sarah James said.

Brittany Innes and Amanda Leftwich led the Sailors offensively in the first, and goalie Carlie Adamo "played awesome," according to James.

Defensively, for the weekend, which included three games in two days, James said Tina Bucci and Carlie Helm played particularly well.

In the second game, Steamboat ran into a superior team, falling by 9 to Grandview.

The Sailors will play one road game at Ralston Valley on Wednesday before returning home for their final games of the season in Steamboat.

The Sailors host Green Mountain at 4 p.m. April 18 They turn around and play Wheat Ridge at 11 a.m. April 19.

Game sites are yet to be determined.
