Trask receieves CMC's 2003 alumna award

Darcy Trask, a part-time instructor in resort management at Colorado Mountain College-Alpine Campus, is the recipient of the 2003 Outstanding Alumna Award.

"I'm really honored to be recognized and a part of the institution," Trask said. "It is a campus-wide award so that makes it even more of a honor."

Trask got her start as a student at CMC. She began attending CMC's Alpine Campus in 1986 and graduated with an associate in arts degree. She then attended the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and received a bachelor's degree in philosophy with a minor in organizational management.

Trask has worked in many resort positions and currently works as the human resource administrative manager at The Industrial Company, based in Steamboat Springs.

Trask who is married with two sons, Peyton, 7, and Trent, 6, said she realizes the importance of community involvement.

As a small business advocate, she was appointed by Gov. Bill Owens to serve on the Governor's Council for Economic Development for Women.

She said the faculty at CMC gave her the confidence to get involved in the community.

"At CMC I immediately felt important and people took the time to get involved in my educational journey. Those people helped me to understand the value of becoming involved with the people in your life and in the community where you live," she said.

Prepared dishes needed for Thanksgiving dinner

Routt County United Way and LIFT-UP are again sponsoring a community Thanksgiving dinner open to the public on Thursday at the Community Center.

Currently prepared food donations for the dinner are needed.

LIFT-UP is seeking stuffed and baked turkeys, gravy, vegetable casseroles, mashed potatoes and pies.

14th annual Holiday Tree Festival Sunday in Hayden

The 14th annual Holiday Tree Festival is at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Routt County Fairgrounds Exhibit in Hayden.

Trees, wreaths and centerpieces entered by the local youth and service organizations will be sold to the highest bidder for the benefit of these groups.

Fair board is seeking volunteers for 4 positions

Art exhibition to open on Dec. 6 at the Depot

The Steamboat Springs Arts Council announces the Dec. 6 opening of "Collage and Clay: Shaping the World," a two-person exhibition of works by Evergreen artists, Ann Bunn and Gail J. Frasier, at the Depot.
