The special board meeting made it painfully obvious that we have a school district that is broken in many ways. The school board and the superintendent have significant issues to address.
Now is the time we find out how they measure up as leaders. Can they rise up and find solutions that are best for all involved, or will they maintain that status quo? Can they heal the wounds and move forward, or will they allow the wounds to fester?
Great leaders show their mettle in times of crisis. The next few weeks will reveal whether the board and superintendent have what it takes to fix what is broken. They face a huge challenge. If it is too big for them to do alone, I hope they have the wisdom to reach out to those who can help. The health of the school district lies in the balance.
