Mr. and Mrs. Edward Arthur LaFoe III of Leland, Miss., and Mrs. and Mrs. Charles DeWitt Walcott III of Austin, Texas, announce the engagement of their daughter, Dexter Winn Walcott, of Steamboat Springs to Brickley Scott Cowman, also of Steamboat Springs.
The groom-elect is the son of Renea Orndorff Cowman of Steamboat Springs and Mr. and Mrs. Quentin Rice Cowman Jr. of Sussex, Wis.
Ms. Walcott is a native of Greenville, Miss., and graduated from St. Catherine's Episcopal High School is Richmond, Va., in 1989. She received a bachelor's degree in environmental science from Delta State University in Cleveland, Miss., in 1995. She also earned a master's degree of environmental policy and management from the University of Denver in 2002. She has lived in Steamboat since 1999 and is employed at Xcel Energy's Hayden Station as the plant environmental analyst.
Mr. Cowman grew up in Steamboat Springs and graduated from St. Mary's High School in Colorado Springs in 1989. He is a 1996 graduate of Colorado State University, earning a bachelor's degree in natural resource management. He spent two years working overseas and returned to Steamboat in 1998 when he began working as a hydrologist for the U.S. Forest Service. He is currently the common water unit leader for the Medicine Bow/Routt National Forest.
The couple is planning a June wedding in Steamboat Springs.
