Day of Caring unites community

Volunteers will participate in event May 15

— On Wednesday, May 15, teams of volunteers throughout Routt County will unite in an effort to "Build a Caring Community," the focus for the 6th annual United Way Day of Caring.

The Day of Caring is an opportunity for people of all ages to give something back to their communities and show they care.

The United Way encourages businesses, schools, service clubs and churches to work together to recruit volunteers within their organizations and to support their employees by giving them a paid day off on May 15 to participate.

The Day of Caring offers an opportunity to promote each organization while building pride, belonging and stewardship throughout the community.

Examples of projects yet to be assigned include: cleaning the exterior grounds of a child care center, staining a small deck, painting doors, cleaning the LIFT-UP Donation Center and assisting the crew at the Botanical Gardens.

After the projects are completed, a community luncheon co-sponsored by the Ski Town Lions Club will be held at Olympian Hall to celebrate the spirit of caring and thank the volunteers for their help.
