Town manager good idea
I do believe Oak Creek needs a town manager, especially after reading that Officer Dave Miller was upset that his sting operation wasn't more successful down in Oak Creek. He should be glad that Oak Creek is obeying the law and not serving alcohol or tobacco to minors.

Town manager bad idea
I don't think Oak Creek needs a town manager. They have a town mayor and a town board. What I can't understand is why the mayor can get her yard back without the town surveying it. Why doesn't the town survey the whole street and make everybody comply with the property line. Apparently it's not just Cargo's yard that was in the way.

Forum praised
I would just like to say that I think it's great we have a convenient, anonymous forum for expressing our opinions. This is a free country and these are opinions. Facts should always be checked out by the reader. Besides, some people wish to remain anonymous so their controversial and legitimate views can be conveyed without being judged by the media-brainwashed masses of America.

Shame on you
This is for whoever the person is who said they're glad they don't live in Oak Creek, what a silly bunch of people. You know, we're really trying hard down here to make our town a nice place for people to live in and to visit. We've got nice restaurants and shops. It's just a few bad apples that spoil the whole bunch. So bear with us and give us a chance, please.

About new ballfields
Absolutely not. The city should not build more baseball fields to accommodate Triple Crown. In fact, I wish Triple Crown would go away. I also would like to see regular reports on what goes on with the negotiating meetings with Triple Crown.

I think the answer is hell no. Gimme a break. I think that you ought to take those Triple Crown people and throw them right out of town. I don't own a restaurant or a hotel. They do not help me out at all. They're nothing but a pain in the patella. And I think Triple Crown is a bad influence on the mystique of Steamboat Springs.

The city should not spend even 1 cent on building new ballfields for Triple Crown. Triple Crown has no business being in Steamboat. All it does is bring in a bunch of congestion and to the satisfaction of a few people in this town. Otherwise, it's just a drain on everybody that lives in this town. It ruins our lifestyle in this community, and let's keep Triple Crown out of this community. Send it to Estes Park or Breckenridge or somewhere else. But keep it out of Steamboat Springs.

The city should not spend even 1 cent on ballfields for Triple Crown. Triple Crown shouldn't be here in the first place. All it does is benefit a few people and it destroys the lifestyle of this community during the summer.

I definitely feel we should not build more baseball fields. I think we should put all of our finances into maintaining our Western heritage and our Ski Town USA heritage.

The question of the week on Triple Crown: I totally support that. The city should go forward with building more. It's very positive for the town.

I think it's great they're thinking about building more fields. However, I think the first couple of fields ought to go to little league for Steamboat Springs. I think Triple Crown is fine to come here, but if we're going to build new fields, let's make sure some of them go to our kids for a baseball league.

Bad comparison
I'd like to comment on two items in your paper today. One, your commentary on housing. I think comparing chronic wasting disease to the housing issue is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. There is no relationship to the two subjects. Housing is not that unaffordable in Craig, Oak Creek and Hayden. People can find housing. The RALF thing is just a load of stuff anyway. Then, we can talk about the consultants they're hiring at $275,000 from Boulder the most dysfunctional county in the state. I don't pay taxes in the city of steamboat springs, and I'm really, really glad about that. Why do you hire the people in the positions they're in if don't know what they're doing? That they have to hire consultants to tell them what to do. I think it's absurd.

Helping each other
I call this one step further. Hey dog owners: Why don't you help the dog problem in Steamboat Springs by monitoring each other. You could help by letting someone know that dogs should be on leashes on the core trail. This is not a good place for a dog to dart out onto the trail with bikers, rollerblades, etc. And, when walking the trail, you could have several bags at the ready to pick up, if you see any, (droppings). Because sometimes, you're going to miss your dog's business. And this way we can all watch out for each other. Kind of like cigarette smokers picking up cigarette butts that they see on the ground. But that's a whole other topic.
