Wednesday, March 20, 2002
Steamboat Springs Steamboat Springs authorities are investigating the death of a 43-year-old man whose body was discovered Tuesday morning.
Robert Makovec was found dead in his residence in the 1200 block of Lincoln Avenue at about 7:30 a.m. by a friend who notified Steamboat Springs police, Detective Dave Kleiber said.
At this point, investigators do not know what caused the man's death.
"At this point, there is no evidence of foul play," Assistant Police Chief Art Fiebing said.
The man's body has been transported to Jefferson County, where an autopsy will be conducted.
Kleiber, who is the lead investigator, said the autopsy and the medical examiner's report will reveal the man's cause of death.
"Once the medical examiner's report is available, we will review it to determine what happened," Kleiber said. "At this point, nothing stands out."
