Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Vedapo had guests last Saturday evening for a "make it yourself" pizza dinner with the Tom Kostur, Sam Barnes and Todd Dunckley families.
Colleen Larson has returned to the United States after her six weeks of General Family Practice Clinical Rotation in Africa. At this time she is doing rotation in Wisconsin. Colleen will graduate from the University of Iowa in May with a bachelor's degree as a physician's assistant. Her mother, Kathy, and brother, Eric, plan to be there for the big day.
Bob and Mary Beth Cate have moved his mother, Leona, from New York to the Haven in Hayden. They are all looking forward to being able to spend more time together.
Lisa Zirkle was honored by her family and friends with a surprise birthday party the evening of March 2 at the Mission of Grace Church.
The Stars of Tomorrow Show was held in Steamboat Springs Feb. 26 at the high school. Locals that participated were: Margot Binnetti, Jake Walker and Tanner Morrison, who all played piano solos. Margot placed third in the division.
The Girl Scouts report that they still have cookies for sale. Watch around town for displays on sale or you may call Hallenbecks at 276-4152.
Jake Hockett celebrated his seventh birthday March 3 with a sledding party on Hocket Hill for his friends and family.
On March 16, the Girl Scouts will fill a trailer with food at the Hayden Mercantile lot for the food drive, which will go to the Hayden Food Bank.
Jimmy Walker and his fiancee from Denver were here over the weekend visiting their families.
Joe and Ruth Skufca are at home again after spending a few weeks in Arizona during the cold months. They were called back by the death of Ruth's mother.
Ilda Booco is enjoying a visit from her sister, who has been staying with her since their mother's funeral.
Bob and Ev Grant were here from Denver for the funeral of Bob's classmate, Jack Barnes.
Memorial services were held March 4, 2002, at the Congregational Church in Hayden for Jack Barnes. Jack passed away very suddenly Feb. 25, 2002, in Mesquite, Nev. He had been in ill health for quite some time. Kenneth Forshee officiated at the service. Organist was Avis Funk. Soloist was Gretchen Hayes. Special selections, favorites of Jack's were played. His granddaughter, Melissa Boutwell, played two piano solos. A poem was read by son Tom. A letter written by Tim was read by Tim's wife, Julane. Jack leaves three children: Tom, Tammy Boutwell and Tim; five grandchildren; his mother, Marjorie Briggs of Cameron, W.Va., and three brothers. He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Barnes. Honorary pallbearers were his family and many friends.
