TOWN TALK: HAYDEN

Mr. and Mrs. Albert Gonzales of Craig hosted a get-together for folks from far and near who were here for the Hayden Union High School reunion. The potluck dinner was enjoyed by a very large crowd.

The H.U.H.S. reunion dinner held at the Hayden Valley Elementary school on June 8 was a huge success with more than 150 in attendance. The food that was prepared by our Hayden school cooks was excellent. Several door prizes were gives and cute quips were read by Master of Ceremonies Eva Fruit. The Class of 1952 was celebrating its 50th this year. In the evening they all dinned together at the new grill and pub owned and operated by the Bill Gray family.

Louise Rhodes was here from Grand Junction to attend the H.U.H.S. reunion. While here she was hospitalized at The Memorial Hospital in Craig. She has now been released and hopefully feeling much better.

The family and personal friends of Jack Barnes held a barbecue last Sunday at the home of Tim, Julane and Brandon. On Sunday, Jack would have been 70 years old. A small service was held while his ashes were being buried next to the pond.

The high school girls basketball team attended the second phase of summer camp at Rangely last weekend with their coaches.

Lawrence Murphy is enjoying a visit this summer from his daughter Mary and family.

Donna Hellyer and her daughter, Kathie Johnson, have returned home from Denver, where they spent nearly two weeks for Kathie to receive medical attention.

The Northwest Pioneer Picnic will be held at 12:30 p.m. July 14 in the Hayden Valley Elementary school gym. The Pioneer Society will provide meat and drinks.
