DONALD D. PIKE

1923-2002

Donald D. Pike died May 30, 2002, at The Memorial Hospital. He was 78.

He was born Dec. 25, 1923, in Maysville, Mo., to Truman and May (Daffron) Pike. He was raised and attended school in Maysville. Don served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He married Nadine Thorla, and to this union two children were born, Robert Lee and Ronald Ray Pike. They were later divorced. Don married Selissa Maxine Backes Helm on Dec. 11, 1966, in Kansas City, Mo. They lived there until moving to Craig one week prior to his death. While in Kansas City, Don worked as a baker, a cab driver and as a delivery man for an electrical company and a security guard. Don was a member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed camping and fishing. Don and Maxine enjoyed two weeks summer vacation with her family several years before times got rough.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine Pike of Craig; two sons, Robert L. Pike of Long Beach, Calif., and Ronald R. Pike of Hanover, Ala.; one stepdaughter, Mary Ann (Arnold) Lieske of Milner; four grandchildren, Joshua of Alabama and Karim, Skyler and Quanah of California; four step-grandchildren, Martin (Leslie) Bugg of Hayden, Andrea (Alvin) Luker of Craig, Becky (Joey) Pacheco of Sand Point, Idaho, and Kristine Haske and her fiancay Forbes of Craig; step-great-grandchildren Shaila, Meriah and Alyssa of Idaho and Amber, Kassie, Kandyce and Austin of Craig and Amanda and Jennifer of Hayden; and one sister, Ruby Graham of Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service was at 11 a.m. June 3, 2002, at Grant Mortuary Chapel with Rod Compton officiating. Interment was at the Craig cemetery with a graveside service by VFW Post No. 4265.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Shriners Hospital in care of Grant Mortuary.
