Funeral home has new owners

Kevin and Carla Sessions of Buffalo, Wyo., have purchased Steamboat's only funeral home from Mike Peterson.

The Sessions, both natives of the Big Horn Basin of Wyoming, have changed the named of the business from Peterson Funeral Home to Yampa Valley Funeral Home.

The Sessions, who have five children, spent the past six years in Buffalo, where Kevin Sessions worked as a funeral director for a family-owned firm. He also served as an assistant ambulance director for the Johnson County Rural Health Care District, an emergency medical technician-intermediate and a deputy coroner. He studied mortuary science in Chicago.

An open house is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. Aug. 16-17 at the funeral home, 2095 Curve Court.

Ferguson joins Mason & Morse

Rebecca Ferguson has joined Mason & Morse Real Estate of Steamboat Springs.

Ferguson, who has 10 years' experience as a real estate office administrator and manager, will sell real estate for the firm.

"She exhibits all the qualities we look for in our sales staff commitment, market knowledge, and above all, a strong sense of what is right in business morals and ethics," Mason & Morse Managing Broker Tom Walton said of Ferguson."

Lowe promoted at Steamboat Grand

Patrick Lowe, executive chef at The Cabin restaurant in the Steamboat Grand Resort Hotel and Conference Center, has been promoted to director of food and beverage.

Lowe has been with the Steamboat Grand since it opened in 2000. He established The Cabin as a Colorado themed steak and chop house drawing on international influences. Lowe's 20-year career includes a stint as executive chef of The Grill restaurant at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel in Santa Monica, Calif.
