Routt County Spotlight: Brooke Lachman

Brooke Nina Lachman

Age: 28

Occupation: Project manager, Grand Futures

Place of birth: New York City

Q.When did you move to Routt County and what brought you here?

A. May 1996. I moved here after graduating from CU-Boulder to take a year off and learn how to ski before going back to school for my master's degree. Been here ever since. Really original story, huh?

Q.What are the best and least favorite things about living in Routt County?

A. One of my favorite aspects is the active lifestyle that so many people enjoy. Another is the incredible beauty of this valley; it never ceases to amaze me. Least favorite I have had a lot of close friends leave town for various reasons. Often this is good for them, but I miss them so much!

Q. If you could invite any four people to dinner, who would they be and why?

A. My grandmother, June Gile, (she was one of my best friends), Steven Tyler (I'd love to hear some of his stories), Adam Foote (we could talk hockey) and Pam Houston (one of my favorite authors of all times).

Q.Who is the most famous person you have ever met and how did you meet him/her?

A. Lucille Ball. She was dining at a restaurant my dad and I used to go to when I was a kid called the Beach Cafn NYC. I sat on her lap and she signed a napkin for me.

Q.If you had three wishes, what would they be?

A. I know this sounds kind of hokey, but it's true! Every time I get a wish (eyelash, first star, lady bug, birthday, etc.), I always wish for the same thing. Health, wealth and happiness for family and friends, in no particular order.

Q. If you could travel to any place where would you go and why?

A. Italy: delicious food, great wine, beautiful art and very romantic.

Q.What is the most rewarding part of your job?

A. Definitely working with kids. The youth in our community are so amazing. They teach me things all the time! Plus, I can be goofy around them and they think it's funny. I love that part!
