Delbert Scott of Hayden died June 4, 2002, at the Colorado State Nursing Home. He was 78.

Delbert was born April 28, 1924, in Hayden, to Frank and Lena (Hultey) Scott. He was raised and attended school in Hayden. Delbert served in the U.S. Army during W.W.II.

He married Jean Hurd April 2, 1950, in Denver. He was a rancher and farmer all his life. He was a member of the American Legion, the Roping Club, and Old Timers Rodeo Association. He thoroughly enjoyed roping. He rode in the color guard for years during the county fair and was always willing to help run the chutes.

He is survived by a daughter, Sally Salazar and husband Joey of Hayden; two sons, Glen Scott and wife Linda of Sand Point, Idaho, and Lyn Scott and wife Teri of Craig; two sisters, Dorothy Gray of Craig and Bonnie Gillan of Loveland; and six grandchildren, Ryan, Matthew, Bryson and Keith Scott and Holi and Chase Salazar. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Howard and Harold, and his wife, Jean.

A memorial service was held at 9:30 a.m. June 21, 2002, at the Hayden rodeogrounds.
