JOHN KENNETH MANLEY SR.

1911-2002

John Kenneth Manley Sr. of Craig, died Feb. 3, 2002, at Yampa Valley Medical Center. He was 90.

John was born April 25, 1911, in Lyons, Neb., to Emmett and Edna (Puffer) Manley. He spent his childhood in eastern Nebraska near Nashville. John graduated from high school in Colorado Springs. John served in the Merchant Marines during WWII. He married Ethel Saville Aug. 25, 1951, in Raton, N.M. John was a rancher and the family lived in the Granby area until 1999 when they moved to Hayden to be near their son, John Jr. John was a member of the Baptist Church and he enjoyed his work as a rancher and caring for his livestock.

He is survived by his wife, Ethel Manley of Hayden; a son, John Manley Jr. and wife, Jackie, of Hayden and a granddaughter, Bridget of Hayden.

He was preceded in death by his parents and seven brothers and sisters.

A funeral service was at 2 p.m. Feb. 7, 2002, at the Granby Baptist Church. John Page officiated. A graveside service was held by The Alex Klein American Legion Post No. 88. Interment was at the Granby Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to the First Baptist Church in Hayden in care of Grant Mortuary.
