STEAMBOAT SPRINGSThe Snowball 2002, which will mark its 20th anniversary of assisting local organizations, will donate its proceeds this year to the Steamboat Springs Arts Council and Yampatika.

Snowball is an annual dinner and dance sponsored by the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation designed to support community organizations and outstanding citizens of the town. This year's theme is "Preserving Our Community through Culture."

The event is March 2 at the Steamboat Grand Resort Hotel with live and silent auction items as well as entertainment by The Nacho Men. Tickets are $90 a person or $1,500 for a corporate table. CONTRIBUTIONS SOUGHT TO HELP INSTRUCTOR WITH MEDICAL COSTS

STEAMBOAT SPRINGSA fund has been established to help longtime Steamboat Springs resident, educator and musician Dave Markle with his medical treatments resulting from his recent diagnosis with multiple myeloma, a from of bone marrow cancer.

Markle's impact as an adjunct instructor in music and philosophy at Colorado Mountain College extends to many in our community. His commitment to education has brought music studies in the classical and flamenco guitar to the curriculum at CMC. His love for thinking and dialog has encouraged students to explore the world of both contemporary as well as historical philosophical thinking. Markle continues to maintain a full teaching load at both the college and to private students despite his illness.

Contributions many be made in two ways. Checks can be made to The Yampa Valley Community Foundation/Friends of Colorado Mountain College, P.O. Box 774965701, Yampa Street, Steamboat Springs, 80477 or to the Friends of Dave Markle fund available at the receptionist's desk at the downtown Wells Fargo Bank.
