Jean E. Scott, 72, died Jan. 29, 2002.

Jean was born June 17, 1929, in Denver, to Harvey and Mary E. (Hughes) Hurd. She was raised and attended school in Denver, graduating in 1947 from South High School. Following her graduation she worked for the Public Service Co. of Colorado as a clerk. She married Delbert L. Scott April 2, 1950, in Denver and they resided in Hayden where Jean has been until her death. She worked as a clerk for Yampa Valley Electric for several years after moving to Hayden. Jean was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and served on the Hayden Library Board for nine years. She enjoyed crafts and playing bridge.

She is survived by her husband, Delbert Scott, of Rifle; a daughter, Sally Salazar and husband, Joey, of Hayden; two sons, Glen Scott and wife, Linda, of Sand Point, Idaho and Lyn Scott and wife, Terri, of Craig; six grandchildren, Ryan, Matthew, Holli, Chase, Bryson and Keith; two sisters, June Jackson of Bullhead City, Ariz. and Mickey Baker of Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Frances "Pudgy" and Wilhemina, and a brother, Burr Hurd.

Memorial services are at 11 a.m. Feb. 12 at the Hayden Congregational Church. Memorial contributions in Jean's name can be made to the Hayden Library in care of Grant Mortuary.
