— A fire Saturday afternoon damaged a home in Yampa.

The fire was reported at 2:39 p.m. Saturday in a single story, wood-frame home at 243 Lincoln in Yampa.

Eight firefighters from the Yampa Fire Department battled the fire, said Ralph Bracegirdle, a Yampa volunteer firefighter.

No one was home at the time of the fire and no one was injured.

Bracegirdle said it appears the fire started in a bathroom.

Bracegirdle said smoke was pouring from the eaves of the house when firefighters arrived.

The home suffered heavy smoke damage and was not inhabitable Saturday night.

Bracegirdle said the residents were given information on interim housing options.

The home belongs to Bruce E. Pitts, according to a search of Routt County property records.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
