Peter Charles Voloshin

1933-2002

Peter "Chuck" Voloshin died Nov. 11, 2002 at The Memorial Hospital in Craig. Chuck was 69.

Chuck was born in Craig on April 13, 1933, to parents George and Anna Voloshin. He graduated from Craig High School in 1952.

Chuck was given a full scholarship to play football at the University of Wyoming, which he attended for two years. After one year at Pueblo Junior College, Chuck earned a degree in physical education from Western State College in Gunnison.

He returned to Craig following graduation, and he taught physical education at local elementary schools.

He also was a football and wrestling coach at Craig High School.

Chuck and his brother Joe operated Voloshin Livestock Co. Chuck retired from the school district in 1972 but continued to ranch with his brother Mike.

He married Jo Delaine Booren in 1960, and the couple had three children. Chuck and Jo Delaine eventually divorced.

Chuck loved watching his children participate in sports during their high school and college years. He also liked to hunt, fish and ride horses. Chuck had a great sense of humor.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, Andy, Joe, George and Johnny.

He is survived by a daughter, Melany Guevara of Craig; two sons, Mike of Denver and Mark of Craig; five sisters, Mary Semro, Helen McKee and Margie Keith, all of Littleton, Ann Hebenstreit of Castle Rock and Betty Arnone of Lakewood; a brother, Mike of Craig; and several grandchildren.

A memorial was held Nov. 18, 2002, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Craig. Memorial contributions can be made to the Moffat County High School athletic department in care of Grant Mortuary, 621 Yampa Ave., Craig, Colo., 81625.
