Gertrude "Trudie" Haight died Dec. 17, 2002 at Yampa Valley Memorial Hospital. She was 74.
Trudie was born Oct. 6, 1928, in Des Moines, Iowa, to parents Horace and Juliette Haight. Trudie had three brothers.
She attended high school at Villa de Chantal in Rock Island, Ill., and earned her bachelor's degree from Quincy College in Quincy, Ill. She later earned a Master of Librarianship from Kansas State Teachers College.
Trudie enjoyed horses, swimming, music and dance. She loved to travel and loved the Steamboat Springs area. She spent the summers of the 1940s in Steamboat, where she eventually returned in the 1980s to become a full-time resident.
Trudie spent much of her time helping people, visiting the sick and talking with anyone who had the time.
She is survived by a brother, William Haight; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Resurrection was held Dec. 21, 2002, at Holy Name Catholic Church. Donations may be made to a charity of choice in care of the Yampa Valley Funeral Home.
