Jessica Heckbert of Steamboat Springs has been named to the Ohio Northern University dean's list for the fall quarter of the 2002-03 school year. Heckbert is a senior majoring in communication arts.
Brassell chosen as 'Teen of the Month'
The Optimist Club named Steamboat Springs High School senior John Brassell the October "Teen of the Month."
Brassell has played tuba in the school band, participated in the Knowledge Bowl and is a cross country runner. He received an academic letter for outstanding scholarship, and he has been awarded for his accomplishments in art, math and world studies. Brassell is the local vice president of the National Art Honor Society.
Brassell's work in the community includes volunteering for the Knights of Columbus St. Patrick's Day dinner, Green-up, Clean-up, LIFT-UP food drives, Kiwanis Christmas tree sales and the Fourth of July Pancake Breakfast.
