Steamboat Springs The Steamboat Springs Kiwanis Club's 20th annual holiday ornaments are for sale at several Steamboat locations this week.
This year's bulb is midnight blue and features a photograph of colorful, bursting fireworks near Howelsen Hill during Winter Carnival festivities.
The $5 ornaments are for sale from 5 to 7 p.m. at City Market and Safeway this week and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14.
The ornaments are also available at Wells Fargo, First National Bank, Vectra Bank and Alpine Bank during normal business hours.
"Last year the sales were so brisk that we sold out in the first weekend," Kiwanis Club member Bud Romberg said. "They have not increased in price in 20 years. We talked about raising the price but we felt that people look forward to buying them and we wanted them to be available to anyone who wanted them."
The ornament sale is the year's biggest fundraiser for the Kiwanis Club, which sponsors senior and youth projects throughout the area, including a senior bus, senior boat ride, the "Stars of Tomorrow" youth talent show and scholarships for graduating high school seniors.
