Suspect sought in sexual assault

Man forced victim into car outside Ski Time Square tavern

— Police are asking for help in finding a suspect in the sexual assault of a Steamboat Springs woman earlier this month.

Police believe the suspect described as a blondish-haired, 5-foot-10-inch white male between the ages of 31 and 45 and weighing 185 to 200 pounds sexually assaulted a woman Aug. 5 in a Ski Time Square parking lot.

The rape was reported Aug. 9 to the Steamboat Springs Police Department.

According to police reports, the victim left a bar in Ski Time Square between 1:30 and 2 a.m. When the victim reached her car, the suspect allegedly grabbed her by the shoulders from behind and pulled her into his car.

The vehicle is described as a dark-colored, four-door sedan model from the late 1980s or early 1990s.

The suspect's car was about five parking spaces down from the victim's vehicle, according to police reports.

After sexually assaulting the victim, the suspect, who is also described as having a pudgy, non-muscular appearance, kicked her out his car and drove away.

The police department produced a composite drawing of the suspect Monday.

The suspect was wearing a worn red T-shirt, a dirty white baseball cap and blue jeans at the time of the assault.

If arrested, the suspect could be charged on several counts.

People who know anything about the incident are asked to contact Routt County Crime Stoppers at 870-6226 or the Steamboat Springs Police Department at 879-1144.

"Anyone having information, who might have been there that night, is encouraged to call," Assistant Police Chief Art Fiebing said.

Callers to Crime Stoppers do not have to reveal their names and may be eligible for a cash reward if their information helps police solve the case.
