Sound off on Sound Off
I just wanted to call and say I think it's ridiculous that you have your Sound Off and no one has to leave their name when your letters to the editor still have to have a phone number and verification of authenticity by someone signing it. It should be the same way with your Sound Off.
Impact of Montessori
I'm very confused about the issue of public Montessori. Why would parents who don't want their children educated in either of our two wonderful public schools desire so badly to have those same schools house their independent school? My guess is they want private education for free or don't want to take the trouble to charter. We don't know how this would impact the public schools yet. Would those classrooms? Would they lose teachers? How would this be funded? There needs to be a public information forum, preferably hosted by the school administration.
Drop nonprofit funding
Budget. No money for Emerald City. Department cuts. We've all heard these pleas from City Council over and over again. But oh my, we have $1.7 million more than we thought. What shall we do with it? High on the list is more for nonprofits? Wait a minute. How did the city ever become the funding source for nonprofits to begin with? Avon dropped all nonprofits from their budget several years ago and guess what, they all found new funding sources. It's time for Steamboat to do the same.
Glad to see funding
Before anybody complains about the proposed use of the empty airport terminal, we should be grateful that somebody is going to finally funnel a few bucks through there back to the government. Beyond that put a sock in it.
Oak Creek drama
I wanted to call and say that I am glad I do not live in Oak Creek. What a bunch of silliness down there. Going to a Town Board meeting is like watching a soap opera.
