Ellen Stein leaving
Ellen Stein, the executive director of the Community Agriculture Alliance, has resigned her position in order to take the helm of the non-profit Mountain Studies Institute in Silverton.
Stein announced her resignation Friday. She will begin work with the Mountain Studies Institute June 15.
Members of the Community Agriculture Alliance's board of directors said Stein will be missed, but wished her well in her new endeavors.
"Ellen has established a solid foundation for the organization," said board President Mike Tetreault. "She has planted many seeds that a new director will develop further and grow into the future.
"She has been remarkably successful in identifying and bringing financial resources to the organization in a very short period of time. She is leaving the organization on solid ground and in great standing."
The board has begun searching for Stein's replacement.
"Ellen has contributed much to the organization. The board is very supportive of her decision and wishes her the very best," board Treasurer John Kerst said. "We are working together actively on a transition plan to ensure the CAA remains strong going forward."
The CAA is a non-profit community-based organization working to preserve the heritage of the Yampa River Valley's agricultural lands and rural communities.
