Steamboat Springs The members of the Steamboat Springs boys lacrosse team will hit the road this weekend for the final trip of the regular season.
Head coach Bob Hiester is hoping the team can carry some of the momentum from a 6-1 win over the Loveland junior varsity team last Saturday into the upcoming road trip.
The victory came after a disappointing 22-1 loss to Rangeview the same day and a 12-4 loss to Englewood on Friday.
"I think our team learned a lot from those games," Hiester said of the losses. "We played a much better game against Fort Collins."
In that game, Rob Loveland had four goals. Henry Howard and Sean Carlson both added goals while Ben Koslick and Phillip Luther both collected assists.
The Steamboat team scored twice in the first quarter, once in the third and three times in the final quarter.
Fort Collins scored its only goal in the third quarter.
Hiester said the win would give his team confidence as they prepare to take the team's last road trip of the season.
Steamboat will face Gateway at Gateway High School on Saturday afternoon. The team will then jump into vehicles and head across town for a match against Douglas County, which is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
Loveland netted two goals in the loss to Englewood. Cooper Howard and Henry Howard also added goals to the Sailors' total.
Jeremy Youngs and Tucker Greene both had assists.
Against Rangeview, Loveland scored the only Steamboat goal.
