Jed F. May of Steamboat Springs was recently honored as a guest at the 52nd Annual Seafair in Seattle. May's ship, the USS Squall, along with six other U.S. Navy ships, a U.S. Coast Guard cutter and two Canadian mine sweepers, were welcomed.
May joined 27 other Squall crew members who sailed into Seattle's Elliot Bay.
For five days, the crew divided their time enjoying city activities and hosting approximately 50,000 people who toured the visiting ships.
"It is important for citizens to come aboard and get a feel for what their tax money goes in to.
"These warships are the world's finest, and the U.S. citizens put their dime into every one of them!" May said.
May, a Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class, is the 23-year-old son of J.N. May of Steamboat Springs.
He graduated from Steamboat Springs High School in 1997.
