Dorothy A Wright was born April 20, 1912, on a small ranch a mile and a half south of the community of Phippsburg to Walter and Mary Dunckley.
She was the third child of Walter and Mary's, preceded by Herman and Verna. Later came Chester and Clarence.
She lived on the ranch until she was 12 when the house burned down.
After that they never had a home, living wherever they could.
Dorothy married Delbert Wright when she was 16. The marriage lasted only a couple of years.
In 1936, Dorothy went to work for Mountain Bell telephone in Steamboat Springs.
She transferred to Denver in 1947, where she worked until she retired in 1974.
She moved from Denver to Aurora in 1978 so her family wouldn't have so far to drive to see her.
In May 2000, Dorothy fell and broke her hip.
She was moved into the Life Care Center of Aurora, where she remained until her death, Aug. 6, 2001.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Herman and Chester.
She is survived by her sister, Verna; her brother, Clarence; and numerous nieces and nephews, too many to name.
She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers Club, Blue Spruce Division.
