Little, Tifft named week's top athletes

Steamboat Springs In an effort to build sportsmanship among the student class Steamboat Springs High School is naming student athletes of the week. The students are selected by the coaching staff and exemplify great sportsmanship and dedication to their school.
According to her coaches, Mackenzie Little is an outstanding athlete and full of school spirit. As captain of the varsity cheerleading squad, Little is always challenging her squad members to try to do more both on and off the playing field.
She choreographs many of the dances and routines with the cooperation of the entire squad.
Little coordinates "Spirit Snack" for traveling teams and helps make signs to show off her school spirit.
Little excels in her classes, enrolls in college courses off- campus and holds down a job hostessing at the Ore House restaurant.
Steamboat's other selection for sportsperson of the week is Rich Tifft. Sailors tennis coach John Aragon said Tifft is a good choice because of his positive work ethic in tennis.
Tifft is the Sailors' No. 1 singles player with an 8-0 record and ranks as one of the best tennis players in the state. He demonstrates a positive attitude whenever he competes and is a fierce competitor.
