Steamboat Springs A 21-year-old Steamboat Springs man will be in court today regarding charges of sexually assault.
The suspect faces two counts of second-degree sexual assault for allegedly assaulting two women at a party Friday.
At a hearing this week, Judge James Garrecht set the man's bond at $5,000, which he was able to post later that day.
The suspect is scheduled to return to county court this afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
According to court records, the man allegedly assaulted one woman in a bedroom where the man was sleeping.
The woman told police she had been drinking and passed out in the bedroom, records show. The woman reportedly told police she did not consent to any of the sexual activity that allegedly took place.
The man allegedly assaulted another woman that morning. The woman told police she woke up because the man was allegedly touching her, records show.
The two women reported the alleged assaults Friday afternoon.
The Routt County Sheriff's Office arrested the suspect at his home at about 1 a.m. Saturday.
According to court documents, the man answered investigators' questions and said he could not recall all of the events of the night.
The suspect reportedly told police he did not force anything on the first woman. The man could not explain to investigators why he allegedly touched the second victim.
The victims and the suspect submitted to sexual assault evidence kits, which were conducted at Yampa Valley Medical Center. Authorities also took into evidence clothing the women were wearing at the time of the alleged assaults, records show.
