'MUSICAL AWAKENINGS' COMES TO YAMPA VALLEY
STEAMBOAT SPRINGSFor the first time, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra will perform "Musical Awakenings" to the Yampa Valley in an effort to provide an educational music program for 1,230 elementary school children. The event is at 1 p.m. Monday for Soda Creek, Strawberry Park and South Routt schools at Steamboat Springs High School. East, Ridgeview and Sunset Elementary Schools from Craig and Hayden Valley Elementary will see the performance at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday at Moffat County High School.
ARTS COUNCIL TO HOST SLIDE NIGHT ON MONDAY
STEAMBOAT SPRINGSSteamboat Springs Arts Council presents Slide Night at the Depot Art Center. Local artists have the opportunity to have their work professionally photographed in time for Winter Works 2002 by Ken Proper of Proper Exposure. Reservations are being taken in 15-minute increments from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday. Cost is $30 for up to three pieces, including processing. Fine Art Guild members pay $20 for 15 minutes. VFW ANNUAL TURKEY SHOOT SET FOR TODAY
STEAMBOAT SPRINGSThe annual VFW Turkey Shoot is at noon today at the VFW, 924 Lincoln. Ave. in Steamboat Springs. Patrons can play bingo and win a turkey. The Ladies Auxiliary will provide sandwiches and baked goods at the event open to the public.
GRAND THANKSGIVING DAY BUFFET SCHEDULED
STEAMBOAT SPRINGSExecutive Chef Patrick Lowe is preparing a feast for the Steamboat Grand's Grand Thanksgiving Day Buffet at The Cabin in the hotel. The buffet menu includes: Chef's Carving Station with turkey and ham; Chef's Cold Table with salmon, duck, salads and fruit; Accompaniments Table with squash, potatoes, stuffings, wild rice, candied yams, brussel sprouts and green beans; Dessert Table with chocolate pecan tarts, pumpkin pies, apple pies, blueberry crumb tartlettes, mixed fruit tartlettes and assorted cheesecakes. Cost is $34.50 for adults, $12.50 for children 6 to 12 and free for children 5 and under. Two-hour seatings are available from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Call 871-5550 for more information and for reservations.
FINE CRAFT 2001 RUNS THROUGH NOV. 25
STEAMBOAT SPRINGSSteamboat Springs Arts Council presents Fine Craft 2001 through Nov. 25 at the Depot Art Center.
Fine Craft 2001 exhibits local, regional and national artists working in ceramics, wood, fibers, metal, paper and basketry to create an exhibit of 44 pieces. Donna Banning judged the show Oct. 12. Call 879-9008 for information.
