Tennis Center prepares for new season
Saturday, May 19, 2001
Steamboat Springs It is that time of season again at the Tennis Center at Steamboat Springs, as the outdoor clay courts are scheduled to open Wednesday, said Jim Swiggart, director of the Tennis Center.
To play on the indoor or outdoor clay courts it is $14 per hour for locals and $20 per hour for non-residents.
By early to mid-August, four new outdoor hard courts will have been constructed and ready to open, Swiggart said.
The hourly charge will be the same for the new hard courts.
Swiggart says his staff has been working hard to recondition and open the outdoor clay courts.
New material and lines are being added to three of the six outdoor clay courts.
Swiggart anticipates a busy summer at the Tennis Center.
"With the addition of this summer's Courts for Kids events," Swiggart said, "the normally busy summer season will be the most active in the Tennis Center's 10-year history."
Swiggart said there are two changes in the Tennis Center's summer schedule.
The STA Singles and Doubles Tournament is July 20-22 and the Steamboat NTRP Clay Court Championships are August 9-12.
