AWARDS, HONORS AND SCHOLARSHIPS
STEAMBOAT SPRINGSAudra Meade, a Soroco senior, was selected as April's teen. She been in National Honor Society for two years, lettered in basketball and band, is vice president of her senior class and serves as a church youth group helper.
Jamie Mckelvie, a Steamboat Springs High School senior, was selected as May's teen. He is a National Honor Society member, attended the National Leadership Conference in 1999, participated in the Close-Up trip to Washington DC and has lettered in football, baseball and wrestling.
He will be attending Colorado State University in the fall, considering a major in engineering.
Nissa Carlson, senior at Steamboat Springs High School, was recently accepted to West Point Academy in New York to study pre-med.
Carlson was on the cross-country and basketball teams, and currently is on the track team at the high school. Only four students from each state every year are accepted to Westpoint, and in the last two years, two Steamboat students have been accepted.
Billy Kendall, a Steamboat Springs High School graduate, has accepted a position with Rep. Scott McKinnis' office in Washington, D.C., beginning June 2001.
Kendall will graduate in June from the University of Denver with a double major in public affairs and international studies.
Kenny Kendall, former Steamboat Springs High School student, was awarded the Best of Festival Actor at the Kennedy Center American College Festival in Fresno, Calif.
Kendall is a sophomore theater major at the Weber State University in Ogden, Utah. He was awarded parts in "Funny Girl" and "Man of La Mancha" for the summer Utah Musical Theatre.
CMC HONOR SOCIETY CHAPTER EARNS AWARD
Alpha Rho Kappa Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at Colorado Mountain College Alpine Campus has received the recognition of a Five Star Chapter. This chapter filled all requirements of goals as presented in the Society's Five-Star Chapter Development Program.
