Steamboat Springs An alleged drunken driver took out almost 100 feet of barbed-wire fence, a power line and a telephone box early Friday morning.
Travis Self, 24, of Steamboat Springs was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving at about 7 a.m. when he allegedly wrecked his 1996 blue Ford Ranger on County Road 33 at about milepost 15.
Self "was coming into town when he lost control of the truck," said Colorado State Trooper Rick Kaspar, who investigated the accident. "He went off the left side of the road. He took out about 94 feet of fence, a power pole and a telephone box. The fence was securing 80 head of cattle. None of the cattle were hurt."
Self was taken to Yampa Valley Medical Center for an injured right knee.
"He reinjured a previous knee injury in the accident," Kaspar said. "He was treated and released."
Self allegedly refused to submit to a blood or breath test, Kaspar said.
Self was booked into the Routt County Jail Friday morning. He faces charges of driving under the influence, careless driving and driving under restraint.
Self's vehicle, which had minor front-end damage, was towed from the scene, Kaspar said.
