Field errors downfall for Rams
Wednesday, March 28, 2001
Steamboat Springs The young players on the Soroco Rams baseball team had mixed emotions after playing their first games in Olathe.
It was the first time they've seen a dirt field to dig grounders on and their first chance to play a live game. But they lost both games, 10-0 and 23-0.
"They were disappointed in losing, but they were excited to get out on the field and play," Rams coach Steve Longwell said of Friday's games.
Longwell said the losses were due to fielding errors.
"It was the first time they've seen the field this year," he said.
Either way, Longwell said the games were a good chance for the players to see what they need to work on. The Rams have 14 players out for the team this year but have no seniors and no returning starters.
The Rams are set to travel to Rangely on April 4 to play their next doubleheader.
"They usually have a pretty good program," Longwell said.
The games start at 3:30 p.m. at Rangely High School.
