OPTIMISTS HONOR TOP LOCAL TEEN-AGERS

STEAMBOAT SPRINGSSoroco senior Kristina Glawe and Hayden senior Joel Wixson have both been named Teens of the Month by the Optimist Club of Steamboat Springs.

Glawe serves her community by tutoring, coaching hockey, participating in Girl Scouts, the Colorado River Watch Program and a date rape and violence prevention program. She plans to attend Colorado College to pursue a bachelor's degree in biology and then move on to the University of Cambridge. Her ultimate goal is to become an FBI agent.

Wixson has participated in wrestling, football, track, band, theater and math olympiad. He is a member of the National Honor Society and has toured the United Nations. He collects stamps, antique bottles, and also spends his spare time restoring cars, fishing, hiking and playing the trumpet. Wixson hopes to attend The Merchant Marine Academy to study engineering.

BOOK FAIR TREEHOUSE CELBEBRATE WRITING

STEAMBOAT SPRINGSA Book Fair Treehouse will be at the middle school all this week to help support and celebrate writing.

During parent-teacher conferences, a selection of literature, writing tools, six trait books and more will be presented at the special book fair.
