Steamboat Springs The Routt County Regional Planning Department will release a draft of the revised county-wide master plan today.
"This is meant to be a general set of guidelines," Assistant Planning Director Chad Phillips said. "It's typically not in as much detail as the sub-area plans."
Sub-area plans will pick up where the master plan leaves off in certain issue that affect identified growth areas.
The master plan is being revised from 1980 and has been a priority for planning staff in the past year. From the original plan, which provided direction for property owners who wish to make a change on their land, many areas have been added or expanded.
New sections of the plan include environmental impacts, recreation, transportation and housing. The wildlife section also was expanded.
"This is to cover issues that come up in places away from growth areas," Phillips said.
A copy of the master plan is available at the planning office starting today for the public to review for later comment. At 7 p.m. March 9 the Routt County Regional Planning Commission will hold a public meeting at the Routt County Courthouse to talk about the master plan.
"What this should be is a voice of the community," Phillips said. "This is where the community wants to go with the county."
