South Routt fest promises more than ever

The third annual Taste of South Routt food festival in Oak Creek Saturday will be the largest ever with a vintage car show, a small children's carnival, square dancing and live music.

This year's festival will have eight food venders and a variety of other vendor and informational booths, organizer David Bonfiglio said.

"We're buttoning everything up and we're pretty close to go," Bonfiglio said Saturday.

There vintage auto show will feature 10 to 15 cars.

There will also be a volleyball tournament, a horseshoe tournament, a dunking booth and tours of historical mine sites in South Routt.

Like the two previous events, there will be plenty of food, music and a beer garden.

"We're fencing all of (Decker Park) this year, so people can have a beer and walk around to all the booths," Bonfiglio said.

The festival is an opportunity for South Routt restaurants and businesses to display what they have to offer and introduce residents of the northern regions of the county to some South Routt hospitality.

Local guitar player and singer David Moran will take the stage at the festival, dedicating one set to singing music for children.

"Hopefully, it will be more fun than ever," Bonfiglio said.

The festival runs from noon to 8 p.m. on Saturday.
