HOWLER OPEN FOR ITS SUMMER SEASON
STEAMBOAT SPRINGSThe Howler Alpine Slide is now open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Aug. 26 at the base of the Barrows chair lift at Howelsen Hill. After Aug. 26, The Howler is open only on weekends through Sept. 30. The Howler offers summer season passes, adult passes (13 and older) are $175 and youth passes (7-12) are $150, through today. Monday, passes for adults increase to $200 and youth passes to $175. Adult single rides are $8 and an all-day pass is $20. Children single rides are $7 with an all-day pass priced at $17. Children 3-6 can ride for free with a parent/guardian; children 2 and under cannot ride the slide. Call 871-1104 or 879-0695, ext. 104.
MOUNTAIN BIKE RUN BEGINS TODAY
STEAMBOAT SPRINGSThe Ride the Rockies bike tour will begin today in Crested Butte. The six-day, 432-mile ride comes through Steamboat Tuesday and will finish in Boulder Friday. There will be 2,000 cyclists participating in the ride.
CONCERT SERIES TUNES UP FRIDAY
STEAMBOAT SPRINGSA free community chamber concert is Friday, June 26, 27 and 29 at the United Methodist Church and Colorado Mountain College as part of the 2001 Rocky Mountain Summer Conservatory.
ART PROGRAM EXPLORES AUSTRALIA
STEAMBOAT SPRINGSKaleidoscope, a children's art exploration program, begins Monday and ends July 1 at the Soda Creek Elementary Modular Building. Brought to the community by the Steamboat Springs Arts Council, this year's theme, "Let's Explore Australia," is sponsored by Wells Fargo Bank and Gloria Gossard. Six sessions are offered to prepare for the annual Art-in-the-Park July 14-15. Session I: Printmaking; Session II: Animals of Australia; Session III: Storytelling; Session IV: Music; Session V: Dance/Performing Arts; Session VI: Storytelling. Call 879-9008.
ROTARY CLUB HOSTS HORIZONS BENEFIT
STEAMBOAT SPRINGSThe Rotary Club of Steamboat and the Steamboat Ski and Resort Corporation present Horizons 25th annual dinner and auction to benefit Horizons and the Steamboat Springs Rotary Club. The event is at 6 p.m. Friday at Thunderhead restaurant, third floor. Tickets for adults are $15, admission for children 6-12 is $9, children under 5 are free. Call 879-4466.
ART WORKSHOP PLANNED THIS WEEK
STEAMBOAT SPRINGSYampatika presents an art workshop through nature with Lowell-Whiteman art teacher Sandy Witte from 9 a.m. to noon Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Beginners to advanced are welcome to register for $90 for three days. Materials not included in fee. Call 871-9151.
