MIXED MEDIA SUBJECT OF PROJECT

STEAMBOAT SPRINGSThe Mixed Media Painting School of Steamboat Springs is having a public art project to entertain and educate the community on the fine art of mixed media painting.

"A Chair Affair" is the first public art project for the annual fellowship award to benefit area artists.

The painted and decorated chairs will be on display at Toys in the Attic until Aug. 7 when they will be up for auction.

Proceeds from the auction will be distributed between the artists and the fellowship fund. For more information, contact Suzy Holloran at 879-2107.

SUMMER THEATER FESTIVAL ON STAGE

STEAMBOAT SPRINGSSummer Theater Festival presents The Steamboat Community Players in the classic musical tale, "The Fantasticks."

The musical, directed by Matt Murphy, will run through Aug. 4, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., doors open at 7:30 p.m.

The Steamboat Community Players also will take part in writing an original children's piece, "!Yo Yowzers!," that runs from July 25 through Aug. 2, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7 p.m., doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets for "The Fantasticks" are available at All That Jazz for $15. "Yo Yowzers!" tickets also are available at All That Jazz free for children 12 and under, $10 for adults 13 and up.

Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Entries sought for Fine Craft 2001

ENTRIES SOUGHT FOR FINE CRAFT 2001

STEAMBOAT SPRINGSThe Steamboat Springs Arts Council is accepting entries for the Fine Craft 2001 show and the Winter Works 2002 show.

The summer art show is an international juried exhibition open to all media that will run from Aug. 3 to Sept. 16.

The show judge is Michael Komanecky, chief curator for the Phoenix Art Museum.

The Fine Craft show is Oct. 12 to Nov. 25.

The show is open to clay, fiber, metal, glass, wood and other mixed media.

The show judge is Donna Banning, California Art Education Association president. Entry deadline is Aug. 31.

Entry fees for Steamboat Springs Arts Council members are $9 per piece, $25 up to three pieces; and $12 per piece for non-members, $30 for up to three pieces.

'POSTCARDS' OFFERS FEEDBACK TO ARTISTS

STEAMBOAT SPRINGSThe Steamboat Springs Arts Council and the Small Works Gallery at the Depot present "Postcards," an opportunity for artists to receive critique.

The exhibit runs through July 30.
