STUDENT EARNS GRANT
Steamboat Springs Bryn Weaver, senior at Steamboat Springs High School, was awarded a Boettcher grant, providing full tuition to any four-year Colorado university. While also considering some out-of-state schools, Weaver said she is leaning toward the University of Colorado to study biology.
Weaver is one of 40 students in Colorado who received the prestigious grant. Class rank, test scores, grade-point average and community involvement are considered.
SCHOOLS' WEB SITE UPDATED
Steamboat springs With the help of Studio9-Design, the Steamboat Springs School District recently launched a revamped Web site with better graphics and navigational capabilities.
Joanne Palmer, director of communications for the school district, said she wanted the Web site at http://sailors2.steamboat.k12.co.us. to be "a better communication tool for the public and staff."
The site contains a district staff directory with phone numbers and e-mail addresses. A school calendar, lunch schedules and job opportunities also are posted. And there's a place on the site for residents to raise questions or concerns.
DEAN'S LIST MADE
Catherine Reuter, a 2000 graduate from Steamboat Springs High School, has been placed on the dean's list at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden. Reuter earned a 3.5 scholastic average after her first semester. She is attending the nationally-acclaimed engineering school on a scholarship.
