Juanita I. Cooper 1916-2000

Juanita Imogene Cooper died Dec. 28, 2000, at the Doak Walker Care Center in Steamboat Springs. She was 84.
Jean was born July 1, 1916, in Sumner, Ill., to Otis and Nettie (Sebright) Stout. She married Chester "Chet" Cooper on Dec. 31, 1945, in Sumner. He preceded her in death.
Jean was a devoted member of Concordia Lutheran Church. She loved camping, fishing, knitting, reading and sewing.
She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Verla Brown of Steamboat Springs; four grandchildren, David, Lonny, Dirk and Melissa; five great-grandchildren; and her special friends, Greg and Jan Fritz.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Phillip and Larry Vanatta.
A memorial service was held Jan. 2 at Concordia Lutheran Church with Luther Berntson officiating. Musicians were Jan Fritz and the Concordia Lutheran choir. Interment will be at the Steamboat Springs Cemetery. Peterson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
