SCHOLARSHIPS AND HONORS

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS Jasmine Jones of Steamboat, a junior at Colorado State University, has been awarded the American Quarter Horse Association World Show Judging Contest Scholarship, American Quarter Horse Association World Champion Judging Team award and the American Horse Association World Show 5th High Individual Overall award. Jones, a mechanical engineering major, is a 1998 graduate of Fountain Valley High School.

Kendra Lyn Leslie of Steamboat Springs has accepted membership in Golden Key National Honor Society and was individually honored during a campus ceremony this fall at the University of Northern Colorado. Golden Key National Honor Society is a non-profit, academic honors organization that provides academic recognition, leadership opportunities, community service, career networking and scholarships.

Morgan Skurky-Thomas of Steamboat was initiated into the Phi Beta Kappa honorary organization of The University of Colorado at Boulder, College of Arts and Sciences, in December. Phi Beta Kappa initiates at the University of Colorado at Boulder generally comprise the top six percent of graduates receiving degrees in the liberal arts each semester. Members must maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.65 and have completed 100 credit hours of course work.

CELEBRATION OF WRITING

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS A Book Fair Treehouse will be at the middle school from March 5-9 to help support and celebrate writing. During parent and teacher conferences, a selection of literature, writing tools, and more will be offered.
