Hayden, Soroco in action
Basketball teams gearing up for big games today

Steamboat Springs The boys and girls basketball teams from two area high schools in Routt County will be in action today.
The girls teams from Hayden and Soroco will host first-round tournament games. Hayden will be hosting Plateau Valley, and Soroco will host Grand Valley.
The boys from Hayden will be traveling to Kremmling to take on West Grand. The Soroco boys will be traveling to Walden to take on North Park.
All four games are scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
Winners from each of the four games will move onto the district tournament, which will be held at Steamboat Springs High School Feb. 23 and 24.
The Hayden girls have a good chance of playing in Steamboat Springs. The Tigers, 6-4, finished in third place in the Western Slope League. The Cowboys, 0-10, finished in last place.
During the season, the Tigers defeated the Cowboys twice in convincing fashion. The winner of the game will take on North Park at 3:30 p.m. next Friday in Steamboat Springs.
North Park, who finished second in the league, received a first-round bye.
The Soroco girls, 4-6, split the two meetings they had with Grand Valley, 4-6. Each team won on its home court.
The winner of this game will take on league champion West Grand at 6:30 p.m. next Friday. The Mustangs also received a first-round bye.
The Hayden boys, 2-8, will take on West Grand, 6-4, who finished in fourth place. The Mustangs defeated the Tigers twice this season, both times by more than 20 points.
The winner of this game will face league champion Plateau Valley, 9-1, at 8 p.m. next Friday in Steamboat Springs.
Soroco, 0-10, will be trying to get their first win of the season over a league opponent against North Park, 7-3.
During the season, the Rams were defeated twice by the Wildcats in convincing fashion.
The winner of this contest will play Grand Valley, 7-3, at 5 p.m. next Friday. The Cardinals finished the season in second-place.
The championship games of the tournament will be played Feb. 24. The girls game is set for 1:30 p.m. and the boys game is scheduled for 3 p.m.
