KUNC, which offers residents of the Yampa Valley a diverse blend of music and news from around the world, may soon become a 24-hour all-news station.

Liquor-run probe continues

Routt County Sheriff's Office officials continued an internal investigation Thursday to determine if any staff policies were violated when an inmate left the jail grounds to buy a bottle of liquor. The program that put James Todd Reimer in the position to leave the jail also is being scrutinized by authorities.

Seven Steamboat teen-agers plan on taking a trip into rural Nicaragua near the Honduran border on Feb. 18. They'll live in huts with families, walk to work or hitch rides on ox-driven carts, and eat what their poor host families will offer them.

Ski area wants two more weeks of jets

Officials of the Steamboat Ski and Resort corp. say they are taking unprecedented steps to strengthen the very end of the ski season. Ski Corp. Vice President of Marketing Andy Wirth said Thursday the ski area is talking to United Airlines about the possibility of extending daily 86-passenger jet flights through the end of the ski season.

'Chief' Moore dies of cancer

Nine days after Edward Moore Jr. turned 50 this past December, the former Steamboat Springs man succumbed to cancer.
